An exclusive online afternoon with psychiatrist Dr Tilman Rentel, guided by Anne van den Ouwelant. Tilman will introduce you to idiolectics: an innovative conversation and interview technique, in which you use the language and words of the traumatized people you are working with! English spoken
Idiolectics is an innovative conversation and interview technique, in which you learn how to listen attentively and recognize resources in the language and speach of the people you work with, by asking simple and open questions. Minimal interpretation, minimal intervention, but maximum presence and utilization of the client’s resources and resilience. In this Impact-session you get a first firm introduction into this method, in which you also learn how to transform your client’s language or words together with your client into images. And how to refocus those images into sensory impressions. A strong, resource-based method, which is useful for anybody working with traumatized people!
The result of using idiolectics is that your client is able to express him-/herself more freely and with fewer inhibitions. Self-consciousness, self-worth and self-efficacy are improved by idiolectic dialogue, because the client is appreciated as an expert concerning his/her own unique way of experiencing symptoms and expressing them. Furthermore, idiolectics is empowering patients to access their own capacities for growth!

“When I asked my 21-year old client what she experiences, she described a ‘pressure on the chest’. This key word is used to enter an idiolectic dialogue, which focuses on her resilience and resources.
This dialogue was the turning point for this client. For the first time she recognized the connection between her mind and her body.”
